This miniature underwater bedroom is meant to represent both the feelings of comfort and suffocation. The bedroom – which is a space usually associated with safety and contentment – becomes an almost claustrophobic environment. The glass walls act as barriers and the water symbolizes a sort of emotional pressure that arises when our most intimate spaces become our prisons. The work wishes to question our attachment to the places we inhabit – what happens when our comfort becomes so consuming that it traps us, making it almost impossible to leave the spaces that are meant to protect us?

Made in collaboration with Coco Andersen.
